Visit Priceline.com to see their great deals on weekend car rentals, which start at $13 a day.
Alamo, Avis, Hertz, National and Budget all participate in the program with Priceline. You "name your own price" on the priceline.com site, and see if the car rental agency in that town will accomodate you.
Fine print:
All Name Your Own Price weekend travel deals must include a Saturday or Sunday and were less than 4 days in total trip length. Also, the cars are rented round trip only, no one way.
Prices also vary according to if you want an econmy size, compact or midsize.
When renting cars, I'd recommend you also buy the optional insurance - or make sure that your own insurance covers any accidents with rental cars. If you have the insurance, you won't have an accident, if you don't have it, you might. That seems to be the way these things always go! Better just have the peace of mind, and at these prices, the extra insurance is no hardship.
